_{[ After going upstairs to her room and seeing this, residents of 1245 Williams Road will notice that Taiwan is nowhere to be found. Her cat will be there, though, with only half the ribbons she usually has on. It looks like she left through the back door. You can find her:

A Sitting in the same tire swing she got stuck in before in the morning. She's not stuck now, but she plans on sitting there all day, humming sad songs. ]}

_{[ B Okay, no, this sudden bout of depression is getting her hungry. At around lunchtime, you'll find Taiwan standing in front of the Malt Shop. Oh, it's closed... She wanted to stuff herself silly with sweets, but it looks like that's not happening. She'll just stare at the front door. ]}

I wanted the ice cream with the sparkles on it...

_{[ C Taiwan knows she'll get droned if she doesn't return in three days, but maybe that's for the best. She'll be kicking your mailbox, throwing rocks at your windows, drawing Hello Kitty on your property... I mean, ruining your Christmas. It's not much worse staying at home, but at least she'll be out of everyone's lives here in Mayfield if she leaves for good.

If anyone tries to confront her or call her out on it, she'll try to run away.

If anyone she's made friends with catches her eye, she'll run, too, but faster, and go great lengths just to hide from them. ]

... I said no such thing. And of course I do not think that. No, Taiwan-san is the one who would be happier without me.

_{[ her voice is getting softer, but that's because it's cracking, and she doesn't want him to notice that ]}

Hey, Japan. You know? Sometimes, it's okay to let others know how you really feel. No one will hate you for it.

_{[bites her lip. Why is he being so difficult?]}

Even if you've done all those things in the past, it's the past - don't get so caught up in it. You're too proud, no, ashamed to say sorry. But at the very least, I'm grateful that Japan has taught me so many things... There aren't a lot of nations I can put my trust in like this, you know? So even if you hate me, please believe me.

Then Taiwan will believe him, too. He has no idea how happy that makes her right now. She bows her head to try and hold her tears back, lets out a gasp of air then purses her lips. ]}

_{[ stands up and pulls Japan into a hug. She might be leaving stains on his coat. She says it in a whisper, but it's clear: ]

[ Normally, he would consider this an invasion of personal space, but- for now, he will allow her. Because he wanted to do this anyway, so he even hugs back. ]

... Taiwan-san, if possible... I would like to ask you one thing.

_{[ As she tries to calm herself down, she manages to ask, her voice a little louder, but muffled ]} What is it?

... Why? Why do you not hate me? Why do you still say that after what happened to you because of my foolishness...? And why did Taiwan-san say that I hate her?

It's true that you did many bad things, but you did many good things, too. Teacher and Hong Kong called me a traitor, but they don't know what you're like! You watched me grow, you were there to hold my hand along the way... you took care of me. Teacher - he never did that. I've had so many experiences in those fifty years, and a lot more after those, be it happy or sad. I wouldn't have seen so much if it weren't for you. I don't think it's all that bad.

There were times when I really hated you, _{[ holds him tighter and buries her face in his chest ]} but how can I stay mad at you when you're doing so much for me? _{[ chuckles ]} Silly. You're always, always working hard. I think it's showing a lot more, lately.

_{[ pauses as she contemplates on what she said ]}

That's why I don't understand what that door showed me...

You are far too forgiving. ...But, I am truly grateful. I would like to as of you to believe me, as well... it is only fair, do you not think?

[ he is barely holding back his tears, and only because he doesn't want to cry in front of Taiwan- he'd never thought he'd hear someone say that to him so directly, and after the overwhelming feelings of guilt that certain events cause, in particular... there are no words for how happy her words make him... however, underneath it all, he still doesn't understand this at all. that tape made it obvious what happened on Christmas night. and yet, Taiwan is behaving like it never happened at all. ]

This key- _{[ She lets go and steps back to reach in her pocket to get the key in question and show it to Japan. ]} My bedroom was locked, so I used this key to open it. _{[ closes her hand and brings the key close to her chest. ]} It lead me somewhere else.

I saw Japan and Teacher and Hong Kong and America and Korea and Thailand and Vietnam and Teacher. _{[ doesn't even notice that she mentioned China twice ]} Everyone said, things were better now that I was out of way. They said I was causing too much trouble. _{[ pauses for a moment. ]} I wasn't there anymore, and you were smiling, and you looked so happy... everyone was happy. It was so scary.

There's nothing wrong with everyone around me being happy.

_{[ She holds the key in both hands and lowers her eyes. ]}

But I want to be happy, too.

[ shakes head ] ...Cruel. That is... all too cruel.

...And there is nothing wrong with that, either. Everyone wishes to be happy, do they not? And to be happy is a right that everyone possesses.

But I'm happy right now.
